I went to see a married couple in extremis. The tension was very high. Among other things, they had both of them trashed their home -- inter alia stomping on cell-phones and electronic equipment and wrecking various pieces of art. I had difficulty getting a word in edgeways. But after 45 minutes, they both suddenly and strangely went quiet. The husband said: "We've paid thousands for psychologists. You've done more than all of them together!" OBSERVATION: But what did I say? They wouldn't tell me -- and this is where, in spite of the counsellor, one so often sees the Lord's gracious interventions. I have said that one sees those interventions in most pastoral counselling.
