Members As Executives

. This is some of the most valuable real estate in Africa. It's a panoramic shot of my old Church, through 90 degrees. Congregational Church members, who are every one of them executive members of the Church, often do not realise this: a member may be a humble personage from day to day, yet their position in the Church is high. This is not merely of spiritual significance. In the Church, you may be entrusted with assets which could be worth a hundred-million to someone. Now as a member, even if everything were humming perfectly in the Church, you should be vigilant -- not only for the Church's sake, but for your own safety, because you bear great responsibility. In the case of my old Church (see a recent post), there have been alarm bells, which, like alarm bells, have to be thoroughly explored before they get switched off. Among other things, a regulator reported "very serious" contraventions at the root of the Church's finances.
