I had a rare experience on Facebook last week. In 1966, on the tiny island of Beru, 1°20' south of the equator, people got together for a group photo under the coconut trees. The photo suffered damage from the heat and humidity, so that today it is pockmarked and blurred. A man dropped me a note on Facebook, commenting that he was from Beru. I sent him the group photo. In the photo, I lean against him as he peers over my right shoulder. We were friends then. OBSERVATION: His father also appears in the photo. He wrote: "Wow." In many cases, our old photos from the mission are the only photos there ever were of certain people.
