I often find myself in a strange position as a minister, when people debate moral issues such as abortion, suicide, homosexuality, or single parenthood. I come from a pastoral point of view, having dealt with such things in pastoral counselling. For most people, it's the issue, the issue -- while in pastoral counselling it's all of the things which surround the issue and are rolled into the issue. OBSERVATION: One sees in counselling what went on before, and what happened after. Most people strip all that away, to seek to deal with an issue in and of itself.
