South African journalist and restauranteur Jacques Pauw had his premises raided yesterday. The National Editors' Forum immediately requested a meeting with the Minister of Police. Law enforcement needs to be consistent -- it should not be arbitrary -- and it should be seen to be so. That is a big issue here. Until recently, I myself experienced any number of raids to my vehicles and property -- and I am not alone. That happened, as best I know, without a warrant. Just one raid failed, after breaching a security gate -- but my landlord had to drill the lock out (pictured). OBSERVATION: That is, if it was a raid -- but it coincided with a cluster of raids.
