Linux On An Acer Aspire

I bought myself a small Acer Aspire ES 11, erased Windows and installed Linux Xubuntu (pictured). But the Acer reported "no bootable device". The problem was that Acer had removed an option from a UEFI menu which opens the computer to Linux (apparently they have now put it back). Here is how I rescued the situation:
I created persistent Xubuntu on a USB
I adjusted the Acer's UEFI to boot from USB
I booted up persistent Xubuntu, to create a rEFInd USB
I booted up the rEFInd USB
I selected the rEFInd Shell, then ... see gnu-linux.org
Now I could boot up Linux Xubuntu from the Acer
