Disproportionate Attention

There will always be some in the Church who require "disproportionate attention" for a while. At the same time, many ministers make it a principle of ministry: no disproportionate attention. That is, yield not to those who require more attention than is usual. My late wife Mirjam continually reminded me of this. It is the principle: the hive is greater than the bee. In an important sense, ministry focuses on the well-being of the Church as a whole, individuals second -- and ministers do get that back to front. OBSERVATION: It is a balance, really. One should be aware of it.
