I feel a little forlorn when I look at my e-mail these days. Not much comes through. In the last 24 hours, just a few messages. Yet at the same time, I received about a hundred messages through various channels of communication -- a deluge which (unfortunately) I can't keep up with -- and I keep it simpler than many people do. There has been a great fragmentation of communication in recent years. Twenty years ago, I had just two land-lines and an e-mail Inbox. OBSERVATION: Interestingly, the biggest new feature of my computer operating system this year is a "Do not disturb" switch.
