I found an old book of mine today, on one of my mother's bookshelves. I had inscribed my name on the title page, and the year, 1976. At sixteen, under apartheid, I was reading Soviet philosophy and science, in German. OBSERVATION: I would understand it a lot better today. It was the original Soviet thinkers -- who interestingly had a holistic philosophy -- although holism under the Soviets was not what it is today. Curiously, one does not remember today that (for example) Lenin and Stalin were philosophers, although Stalin has been described as a "threadbare" one. Both of their names appear in dictionaries of philosophy.
