It's another photo I retrieved yesterday. This is how we would land on the islands in the mission. In the background is the mission ship the John Williams VII. The John Williams' launch would pull this longboat to the reef, and let it go to coincide with a swell. It would then surf the reef. This is a particularly still day, and one sees the reef in the photo, lurking just beneath the water. OBSERVATION: Today, many islands have channels through the reef -- but the channels have done no good. They have changed the currents.
