In any place, being a university student may mean hacking one's way through the system -- however many university students in South Africa have a particularly hard time of it -- one couldn't think their sufferings up. And they are so patient about it, it is heartbreaking (and sometimes they explode). I intervened on behalf of a student this week when she arrived for her second year of university and was "refused re-admittance" to her residence -- a letter with no reference, no addressee, no explanation, no signature. Many students have been sleeping in rows on the hard floor, without amenities. OBSERVATION: A principle in ministry is: "Do something." Act on people's behalf.
