At the close of my urban ministry, I was attacked in the Church vestibule. I was scratched from head to foot, and suffered injury to my back. Soon I was laid low by illness -- the result apparently of the scratches (staphylococcus). This was resistant to antibiotics. The Church doctor immediately prescribed antibiotics as a precaution, but it did no good. It took three more attempts for doctors to cure me out -- however not completely. Finally towards the end of last year, I had two courses of antibiotics which seem to have set me free. I hope so. There has been no infection now for half a year. OBSERVATION: The Church was still obliged at the time to cover medical expenses. They covered all expenses except those incurred through the attack. They would not even communicate about that.
