In my magnum opus I lay the groundwork for an assessment of where the planet finds itself. Basically our theories, algorithms, models and so on exclude that which they do not contain. That is, we exercise enormous control in this way, yet screen out crucial considerations. Then we find that we have insects dying, oceans rising, people suffocating. So pervasive is this habit of using theories, algorithms, models and so on, that we cannot undo our crisis. We stand perplexed as we see it overtaking us. In other words, I see a worst case scenario, and a more rapid descent into chaos than is usually thought. However, I think that -- maybe -- a strand of our civilisation could survive. OBSERVATION: If my analysis is correct, we have not yet clarified our problem.
