Reading the news today of President Trump's latest pardons, as a minister I was once involved in a presidential pardon -- not with President Trump, of course. A man had just been put on anti-depressants, picked up a piece of dried sausage in a supermarket, and walked out chewing it. He said he was dazed and confused -- and besides, who walks out of a supermarket chewing dried sausage in front of everyone? He received a criminal sentence for it, and was very ashamed. It also affected many things, such as visiting his family overseas. The pardon process seemed to be a muddled and uncertain affair, but we persisted, and I encouraged him through it all, and the pardon -- somewhat to our surprise -- came through.
