I stayed last night with my parents-in-law in their new home (pictured) -- my first visit since their retirement in May. It is one of the earlier houses of South Africa's (then) Reconstruction and Development Programme. The walls are quite solid, and the roof is water-tight. However, the floor is lumpy, door- and window-frames are loose, and the wiring is hazardous. As is typical of such houses, there is a single water tap outside.
