In 2012, we asked churchgoers for feedback on forms (normally this happened through meetings). I summed up the biggest item of feedback in a Church newsletter, and place it here because it may be just what readers' Churches are feeling. It has been a perennial theme in my ministr(ies):
"The congregation would like to see our elders and deacons be active in their portfolios, and would like to see them at Church events and groups. In one way or another, this came up in more than two-thirds of the responses. ... Other requests for the diaconate are: home visitation and personal attention, stronger spiritual leadership, better information, and Church notices which are spoken so that people can clearly understand them."OBSERVATION: It is interesting that there was little interest in elders and deacons doing what they mostly did. It seems to turn Churches' traditional modus operandi on its head.
