Something that changes a lot -- has to change -- when one shifts from homogeneous to heterogeneous ministry is humour. Various kinds of humour don't translate into a multi-cultural context. Say, irony in my own culture, or pretence in African culture. Much humour is not understood, or is misunderstood by other cultures. OBSERVATION: It is all the more reason to know the cultures one is ministering to, and sometimes one needs to know them quite closely before humour is understood.
