In 2003, I was surprised to find one of my designs on the cover of the world's no. 1 electronics magazine -- because it was a fairly simple design. One inserted small, flat, sealed circuits between one's teeth and cheeks. These were turned on by one's saliva, and made one's cheeks glow / throb red. When one took them out, they switched off. OBSERVATION: As with many things, it is an example of technological advances. In the previous decade, LED lights had shifted from super-bright to ultra-bright. Also, low-current timers with pulse-width modulation became available, so that one could seal this unit and not worry about its battery life. This made my design possible.
