Spiritual Health In Diversity

Diversity was a topic of some recent posts. My city ministry of nearly 20 years became a multi-cultural ministry where (for example) all languages became minority languages. Here’s why I believe that cultural diversity in a Church represents spiritual health:
• We see such diversity in the New Testament.
• To experience it is a joy and a mystery beyond all theology or theory.
• Cultural diversity proves that one has been able to progress beyond culture and values, to exalt Jesus Christ together.
• It proves that one has learnt to appreciate others for the spiritual treasure they are.
• It serves as evidence that one is implementing the priesthood of believers in the Church.
• There is great spiritual advantage in mixing with people who have a different spiritual heritage, experience, and outlook.
• Cultural diversity enables one to see what God is doing across peoples, borders, continents.
• It creates friendships and partnerships to enrich and strengthen the Church of Christ.
• It opens up many opportunities to serve one another in love, and
• It delivers proof that one can trust others in the Spirit as one trusts oneself.
OBSERVATION: It is important to note that I am not referring merely to demographics or being PC -- the composition of a Church. It is about being spiritually rounded, and about people's full participation and service in the Church.
