Rejected Minister

In my first major ministry, many years ago, we built a new Church to seat 250 people. The Building Committee asked me for recommendations. I made three:
• Crimson carpets rather than green
• Up-lights rather than down-lights, and
• Raise the roof five bricks.
I thought these were excellent recommendations, but all three were turned down. OBSERVATION: Happily, it didn't seem to make a difference. I have wondered sometimes whether proposing the opposite would get better results.
