Kleptomaniac

When I was an assistant minister, many years ago, we had a kleptomaniac in the Church -- but I mean, a genuine kleptomaniac. I gave a children's story in Church one morning, and used a gold pendant to illustrate it. Afterwards, I couldn't see the pendant. The Church secretary said to me: "Anne has got it!" I said: "You can't go blaming Anne when you don't know!" She went to Anne and said: "Give me back the pendant!" Anne gave back the pendant. OBSERVATION: This can be a problem in a bigger way in the Church: one just "knows" who did this or that -- it may even be something ruinous -- but should one do as our secretary did?
