All over a township where I stayed last night (New Rest), there were New Year's Eve services. "But why," someone asked, "are they scattered all over the township? Why not get together? But they never do." To say it is because of "exclusivity" might seem too obvious, but when I think of the way we co-operated and combined as Churches in my own "parishes", we did it through deliberate inclusiveness. OBSERVATION: There is in fact a proliferation of Churches in South Africa. There is the additional problem, too, of moralism, which further tends to separate.
