Every time I visit my parents-in-law in the Eastern Cape, there is medicine brewing. This is klip dagga (Leonotis nepetifolia). Among other things, it is a purgative, which is what this pot was for. Behind many of these medicines lie centuries of experience, so that they really do work. OBSERVATION: Our University of the Western Cape has an ongoing project to try to document it all (see the Traditional Medicines Research Group), but it seems to me the project is too big for them.
