Needy Congregants

I am concerned -- having listened to many sermons among South Africa's suffering communities -- that pastors feed the needs of a desperate situation, and congregations hang on pastors' words, because they desperately need them. But it is a needy kind of relationship. While good sermons do feed needs -- through the Spirit -- this does not seem healthy to me. The sermon was "Vashou!" "Hold on!" OBSERVATION: Another common theme is "Reform!" (as opposed to "Repent!"). These themes are obviously linked to hardship and dissolute living.
