Budget Presentation

I attended an Anglican budget presentation yesterday. A new treasurer, a young Black man, did very well -- in particular, in understanding the purpose of a Church budget. OBSERVATION: It differed greatly from a Congregational Church budget, in that members were merely asked to endorse the budget. In the Congregational Church, members are executive members, so that the treasurer might walk out with a very different budget to that with which he or she walked in -- not that that happens often. Also, members in a Congregational Church have direct access to statements, quotes, audits, and so on. Usually they are content, though, with what is presented in the meeting. They shouldn't be too content, because they bear responsibility.
