Over on Facebook, I today put up the last of sixteen histories of islands in the Gilbert Group in Kiribati. This is by far not all the material that I have. I have genealogies and lists of kings, various myths and legends, and so on. This is the table of contents of the book from which I obtained the histories (above). I so far put up pages 74-128. OBSERVATION: It has not been easy, as the book is badly damaged. It is Emily May Pateman's Aia Karaki nikawai I-Tungaru of 1942.
POSTSCRIPT: My re-publishing of the stories (there is no copy in Kiribati) has caused some controversy. The histories speak of such things and wars and lands, which are not entirely dead issues, and some of the oral traditions do not agree.
