Decoupling Society

While I haven't thought about this deeply, having lived for years in an old world society I see a decoupling of society from nature in our (post) modern society. In an old world society, people did not have that freedom. They needed to fulfil strict rules and roles in order to survive. In (post) modern society, one can jettison those rules and roles and still survive. In fact, one can jettison them more and more. OBSERVATION: Together with this, we have pluralism to contend with, which above all makes it difficult to approach issues from a single perspective.
