Son M is now a Youth Pastor in Switzerland -- and finding himself in situations he is well familiar with as a pastor's son. He writes that none of it "comes as a surprise to your apprentice son". I will say this: the introductory experience would have come as a surprise to me, in early ministry -- though not in later ministry. OBSERVATION: It raises the question for me, again, how ministers are trained for ministry. Surely a good training includes training for the contingencies and adversities of ministry -- not to speak of handling the successes, which may be more challenging still. I have wondered whether "acting it out" in class might be a way of doing it. One's term as Probationer or Curate or Intern is not adequate.
