Making Fire

As a boy, I watched the men of Kiribati using an ancient method of fire-making. My father filmed it once -- but the film is now very badly damaged. So I had a look whether anyone else had filmed it. I found a movie of Aborigines -- but no, this was not what I remembered. It took them one minute to obtain fire -- with much ceremony! Then I found a video of Samoan Friction Fire. This is it. In five seconds, a man has smoke. In thirteen seconds, he has fire. It is called the "plow method" of making fire. It is stunning. One wouldn't imagine it possible.
