The Leader Leads (Not)
Looking back, one of the more important moments of ministry was when I was struggling with a tough "leadership" decision I could not make. Then I realised, "You can ask the congregation." In fact, that is what Congregationalism is. It is mistaken to think, as one is more often than not taught to think: the leader leads. OBSERVATION: I am not suggesting servant leadership. In fact, by some definitions (for instance, "authority, not power"), I am suggesting the opposite. The further I travelled through ministry, the more I sought to make decisions which were ours, not mine. This includes the understanding that wisdom is found in unexpected places.
