People often find it difficult to place me. Is he a liberal? Is he a conservative? Sometimes they aggressively assume that I am one or the other. I grew up under extremes. It began with parents of different cultures, who grew up under different powers. I myself grew up in different civilisations. Most of my ministry was in radically different or radically mixed congregations. I studied at mutually incompatible seminaries. I am a minister in the Congregational Church, and a partner of the Anglican Church. My own wife and I lived on opposite sides of the apartheid divide. Today my friends include those who were in the crowd in Washington DC at the storming of the Capitol. They also include members of the Leninist Party and the Pan-Africanist Congress. One sees many of my friends on my Facebook page.
