I had a useful session with my new oscilloscope this week -- or graphical multimeter (pictured). I built a LED flasher, except nearly one-hundred times as powerful as a standard circuit. My circuit failed. I checked the oscillator (which controls the flash). It worked. I checked a MOSFET (which switches the power). It had failed. I checked a buffer between the two. It had failed. The MOSFET had obviously blown out the buffer -- the reverse is unlikely to happen.
OBSERVATION: So I know exactly what is going on.
