Louder Than Words
We were dealing with a member of staff once, who could not rein in his temper. He was out of control. We called on the help of an arbiter. A deacon said to me, we are not going to rely on cold fact. We are going to trigger his temper, in front of the arbiter. He said nothing, did nothing improper, but he raised his voice, and apparently became more and more heated. Our member of staff exploded, in a fantastic tantrum -- and it sealed his fate. OBSERVATION: I learnt from that, not only for situations where one knows what is going on -- but if one has a situation where one cannot quite discern intentions. Turn up the heat a bit -- but not improperly. If someone explodes, or does something dramatic, you know. Far from being deceitful, I think it is a judgement call -- to deal with something as you think it is, but without going all the way. A good heart is quickly discerned, too.
