Looking Bad
Here's an example -- one among many (see the previous post) -- of improperly holding the minister responsible. An Anglican clergyman and consultant visited our Church, and unexpectedly asked for a show of hands as to how many people the minister had visited in (I think) the last six months. Few hands went up. It looked really bad. Now consider, the minister (myself) was not in charge of his visitation schedule. The members had set this for me in a Church Meeting, to apply to this period of time. Over this time, I was to visit those who were not in Church. My visits were many. OBSERVATION: It could have been a ploy, too, but I don't know. That is, the clergyman may have known that the congregation had a different schedule for me. "How many visits did you make?" would have yielded a vastly different answer to, "Who here received a visit?"
