Becoming More Congregational

For some years in ministry, where there was a special problem or challenge, I tended to think, "Oh my goodness, what shall I do now?" Then came the day -- it was a specific problem -- where I became more of a Congregationalist. I realised that it was not all up to me. I was surrounded by an entire congregation. I could ask them. Similarly, a deaconess once needed to arrange transport for some dozens of people. She said to me, "Decisions, decisions, decisions!" I said no, just consult the Church. OBSERVATION: It is very easy to slip into Presbyterian or Episcopalian thinking, which may be far from Congregationalism in spirit or in practice.
