I made an attempt to revive my 2008 32-bit Acer Aspire One notebook computer. This was a very nice computer. I repaired the power supply, and found that the battery was dead. But it runs without the battery. I got an up-to-date release of Puppy Linux running on it ... but the one thing that needs to work with Puppy Linux -- a competent word processor -- would not. OBSERVATION: All is not lost. I shall try a 32-bit version of Debian. Incidentally UNIX (BSD) worked, but I didn't get a graphical user interface up.
POSTSCRIPT: Sparky, a version of Debian, works on the Acer Aspire One, and it has the full-powered word processor. However, don't even think of it! It is so slow as to be unusable.
