Don't judge a book by its cover. I have found that this is very true in the Church. Don't judge someone by their social status or cultural background or level of education, and so on. They may be wanting in the world's scheme of things, but they may be spiritual treasures, and have much wisdom and commitment. I was reminded of that in a strange way this week. One could say that I am an expert in (certain fields of) electronics. My neighbour and I looked at a faulty gate mechanism. I could point out electronic components of various kinds, while he could point out thingamies and wotsits and little lights that flashed. He knew what he was saying, even though he wouldn't get past question one in electronics basics. OBSERVATION: And this is why it is a mistake, too, to think that a Church will thrive if it has wealthy members.
