Often enough, the Internet is not built for Southern Africa. Here's an example in the moment. This is the BBC running mandatory one-minute ads for Standard Bank (pictured). Such ads are often high resolution, and take very much longer than a minute to download with erratic African connections. Standard Bank is a local bank, so it seems hard to understand how they think that locals will always be able to view their ads in a minute -- which is quite long enough anyway. Perhaps they wish to cater to the rich.
