For years now, I have been collecting words in
Oosgrensafrikaans (Eastern Border Afrikaans), which some of my wife's family speak. I do this because I am unaware of any other collection of
Oosgrensafrikaans words. But this dialect is dying out. The younger generations no longer speak it. It differs from standard Afrikaans in that it is closer to Dutch, and far less distinct.
