This post is not for sensitive souls. There was a minister 45 years before me in city ministry, Rev. Robert Cook (pictured). Here is a story about him which may have legendary elements in it by now. He was cutting the hedge in front of the Church manse in Sea Point, when he was bitten on a finger by a button spider. This is "a medical emergency", if not fatal. He ran to the yard at the back of the house to fetch an axe, and chopped off his finger.
