Professional Photographers

Here's my "beef" with professional photographers -- not just this one, but all of them. in South Africa, incidentally, professional photographers often have no camera. They hire one for the day, and are fairly unfamiliar with their tool. Generally speaking:

1. They take all their photos at eye level.
2. They take all their photos square on.
3. They may line up their subjects, instead of composing a scene.
4. They may ignore what light and shadow are doing.
5. They may lack a sense of playfulness.
6. They usually miss what happens on the fringes of an event.
7. They may focus on technical aspects, instead of a story.
8. Their photos may lack spontaneity.

OBSERVATION: However, what professional photographers do get right is all the formal moments, e.g. handing over a certificate, which a non-professional may miss. All in all, I feel that the end result of professional photographers is ... boring.
