Bibles in Church
In two major Churches, we filled the Church with Bibles in the pews. This was not a small undertaking, in the early stages of Churches' development under my ministries. While the prices of Bibles vary greatly, a hard-cover Bible might (today) cost R200. Say one puts 100 copies in a Church, with 30 copies for children, and a few special editions such as Large Print, that could approach R30,000, as an initial outlay. OBSERVATION: Yet we considered it vital. It was vital not only to engage with the text, but for text-intensive services, special items in Church, and contemplation before services. Some Churches have reasons besides: to discourage a consumerist spirituality, to use Bibles as drums! and so on.
