Snatched Chicks

Pity my poor father-in-law (not in the photo). On my most recent visit to the plateau, he started with twelve chicks. One vanished inexplicably. Then, before my eyes, I saw a hawk fall from the sky like a stone, and snatch a second one away. A third one was taken by a snake (pictured) -- possibly a night adder -- the snake was caught in flagrante delicto. And a fourth chick was snatched again by a hawk. My father-in-law was "hopping mad". It costs him to raise chickens.
