Rev. Dr. Schoonraad (see the previous post) told the story today of a nativity play that went all wrong. At the last moment, a little boy was pressed into service as the inn-keeper who turned Mary and Joseph away. He could only remember that he had to refuse them entry -- and he took his responsibility very seriously. When Mary and Joseph realised that they wouldn't be getting anywhere with this inn-keeper, they turned around and left. When the boy realised what he had done, he burst into tears. He cried: "Come back! You can have my very own room!"
