Disruptors

One thing about city ministry is disruptors. If there was a disruption to a Church service, I usually dealt with disruptors by engaging with them, and persuading them to continue the conversation later. In one evening service, a man with a cigarette behind his ear walked to the front, held a hand in the air, and took over the service. In front of a full Church, I walked to the front (I was not preaching that evening), and said: "Hey! It's great to have you here! What's your name? Can we do this later?" He was completely distracted, and left. A deaconess reprimanded me after the service, “That was dangerous! That man was high! Don’t ever do that again!” OBSERVATION: After that incident, we appointed "first responders".
