With the attempted assassination of Trump, a question that has been oft repeated is, How much did hostile rhetoric have to do with this? One can answer that from ministry. Hostile rhetoric has a lot to do with physical attacks on ministers -- though perhaps not as one would think. My own most dangerous moment might have been when someone brought a revolver onto the Church premises, threatening to "get" me. The "hostile rhetoric" in that case was a claim that I governed the Church -- which I did not. It was a Congregational Church.
