My Metal Detectors

Here's something about me that may not be known to all: I invented two new genres (that is, families) of metal detectors. See, as an example, Detector Types. Alexander Graham Bell invented IB in 1881, Gerhard Fischar invented BFO in 1925, and Claus Colani invented PI in 1961. In 2004, I invented BB and CCO (well publicised at the time). I also revolutionised IB, by stripping out the analogue electronics. BB detectors are potentially very simple. A three-component design (plus search coils) out-performs most BFO designs -- and CCO detectors match the performance of IB, yet don't require the critical set-up. There are examples of both on this blog. OBSERVATION: While "new" ideas may only be new until someone proves otherwise, my invention of BB and CCO has been very public and has remained unchallenged for six years. Besides, the ideas were too good not to have been known if they had existed before. The image shows one of my metal detector "covers".

Hi Mister Thomas. Congratulations on the success of BB and CCO metal detectors and give a lot of potential in every way. I am sorry that these projects do not develop further. Probably as a threat (its simplicity) for the industrial metal detectors (spinning a huge amount of money in the industry detectors). Do you have the intention to develop these projects or have something new in mind? I ask you, because in principle nothing new has happened in the field of metal detectors in the last ten years (probably restricts their physics). I did a little experiment with a larger probe (while maintaining the same inductance) for the CCO, but there is a higher volatility with greater detection.Sorry for my bad English. Greetings and all the best.

Thank you Dejan. I'm pleased you tried the CCO principle. My joy and strength has been innovation, but I have had little interest in perfecting my ideas or commercialising them. BB and CCO may have been incorporated into commercial designs -- however, I don't know. I do know that IB and BFO designs of mine have gone into production. Whenever I have had a winning idea, I have chosen instead to "make maximum mileage" out of it through designing different embodiments. Thus I had various BB and CCO designs published in various magazines, and on the Internet.
