The image on the right shows the typical "work in progress" of a Congregational order of service. I finalised this just minutes before the service began. This is what it reveals. There were to be prayers by the children (so I was told) -- at the last moment cancelled. Another prayer inserted. There were to be two separate children's songs (so I was told) -- at the last moment combined into one. Then a surprise event inserted next to the offering. At this point, the service was looking too full -- so I put brackets around a hymn.
OBSERVATION: The order of service is a creative work in progress, even after a service has begun. Usually, I have kept a Plan B for at least one item on a Sunday.
