Even before we were engaged, wife E. and I reached an understanding that we would not understand one another. We were both of us a) coming into a marriage late, and b) from very different cultural backgrounds. This understanding is in fact a great help. We love each other, but we don't need to understand each other. At the same time, understand each other we do.
OBSERVATION: Not seldom, young couples want to understand each other inside out.
