Earlier in the week, I put up some audio on this blog -- revealing that the treasurer of my old city Church had lied to the assembled Church (see Misleading the Church). It was about the audit -- the most important safety feature of a Church's finances. Among other things, he told members that he had audited accounts in front of him, where these did not exist. This raises the question: what else did he lie about? I say this with humility. His falsehoods included my own reputation. City attorneys put it to him that he had promoted "various falsehoods" which had "played a crucial part in his [the minister's] departure ... one of the longest and most decisive ministries in the history of the church". He would not respond. OBSERVATION: Why do churchgoers so readily believe false statements about a minister? Could it be an unhealthy suspicion of ministers?
